Tower San Giovanni, Lanciano

Tower San Giovanni or della Candelora is located in Lanciano Vecchia, the oldest district of Lanciano, in Via dei Frentani. It is a square pebble-sandstone building which dates back to the 14th century. It was the bell tower of the church of San Giovanni before it was destroyed by bombing during the World War II and never rebuilt.

Today the tower is in a state of neglect to such an extent that a committee of residents has started a fundraising campaign for its restoration.
