The Regional Nature Reserve Marina di Vasto is located between the seafront Duca degli Abruzzi of Vasto Marina and the Mediterranean Botanical Garden of San Salvo. It is about 60 hectares wide, characterized by a sandy coast with very well kept dunes, back dune habitats and a wet area by the Buonanotte stream.
Noticeable vegetal species are the European sea rocket, sea daffodil and agropyron. The Kentish plover is the most representative species of the dune fauna, while the back dune and wet habitats boast the grey heron, great egret, red egret, purple heron and the European pond turtle.
The reserve is accessible from Vasto Marina by a cycle-pedestrian lane and then it can be visited through specific trails.
