Perdonanza Celestiniana, L’Aquila

La Perdonanza Celestiniana (Celestino’s Remission) is an historical-religious event of L’Aquila. It was named from Celestino V’s papal bull of 1294 that gave a plenary indulgence to all those who, after Confession and Communion, entered the Basilica of Santa Maria di Collemaggio from the vespers of August 28 to the vespers of 29. The most important rite is the opening of the Holy Door on August 29. This year there will be the 718th edition of Perdonanza.
