Church of San Pietro, Massa d’Albe

The church of San Pietro rises on the hill wherein the temple of Apollo was located in the Roman city of Alba Fucens, in today’s municipal territory of Massa d’Albe. Erected in 866 by Benedictines reusing material of Roman origin, it is made up of two naves and one aisle, and a beautiful portal of XII century. A Roman ambo with precious porphyry decorations enriches its interior.

Especially the magic atmospheres of a timeless place deep un the stunning nature of the Sirente-Velino Regional Park make enchanting the church of San Pietro and the archeological site of Alba Fucens.
