The Gorges of Celano are located between Celano and Ovindoli, in the province of L’Aquila, in the Sirente-Velino Regional Park. They represent the maximum phenomenon of erosion in the Central Apennines, with cliffs up to 200 m high. The canyon is approximately 4 km long, with an average width of 5-6 meters. It was carved by La Foce stream. It is the ideal habitat for large birds of prey: golden eagle and griffin.
