Pacentro

Pacentro is in the Province of L’Aquila and in Majella National Park. It rises on a relief on the Morrone’s mountains, 690 metres above sea level, from which it dominates the Pelign Valley. It is one of the most beautiful Italian Villages.

The Caldora Castle (XIV century), the church of Santa Maria Maggiore (St. Mary Major) XVI century, the church of San Marcello (XI century) and the Franciscan friary of the Minor Pious (XVI century) are symbols of the history of Pacentro through the centuries and the different dominations: the Norman, the Angevin, the Aragonese and the Bourbon ones.
