Civitaquana is located in the Province of Pescara, at the confluence of the Nora and Schiavone rivers. The abundance of water should explain the origin of the name, as shown by the trace of two ancient Roman cisterns underground the plateau of Quinzio Hill.
Main places of interests in Civitaquana are the Romanesque church of Santa Maria delle Grazie and the castle, ruled in the centuries by several feudatories. The most known were Sordello da Coito and Leognani Fieramosca.
Civitaquana’s economy is mainly based on agriculture.
