The lake of Capo D’Acqua is located in Capestrano, in the National Park of Gran Sasso and Laga Mountains. It was created in the 60s for the irrigation of fields. It is fed from the spring of Capo D’Acqua which, with two other sources, originates the Tirino river.
The lake belongs to the diving school Atlantide. For that reason it is enclosed. Its crystal clear waters, ideal habitat for many fish species, especially the brown trout, mammals, amphibians and lake birds, provide excellent visibility during diving, when you can visit the ruins of two medieval mills underwater.
