The Fox (Vulpes vulpes) is a small canine, 60-90 cm long, with a tail of 35-50 cm and weight of 4-10 kg. It feeds mainly on small mammals, birds, insects, carrions and berries. The fox has crepuscular and nocturnal habits. After a gestation period of 52 days, the she-fox gives birth to 4-6 cubs, assisted by the male in feeding the issue. Its high rate of reproduction and adaptability have allowed it to survive the ruthless hunting of which was targeted by hunters and farmers. In Abruzzo the fox is widespread.
